Game content:
Players compete against each other to become the new ruler of the land of Kadab. To do this, various different land tiles are settled and defended by troops. It is also possible to build fortresses, which are very useful, as you need the highest level of the “citadel” to win. Each round consists of different phases in which you can draw or place tiles, play events, slap your opponent’s hat, or explore new land tiles. It’s important that the different creatures are assigned to specific land types (jungle, sand desert, mountains, etc.), and the player must own such a space to “supply” their creatures. Otherwise, they are considered phantom creatures and can be exposed and removed by the opponent. “Removal” is the right term here, because you never die, but simply “return to the bag of things.”

Rating:
An absolutely witty game! Even the instructions are full of funny hints or “historical notes” that immerse you even deeper into the game world. And who wouldn’t want to command a troop of killer penguins and flying squirrels?
All the game components are very solidly made and promise to last for many rounds. Only the punching and sticking of the pieces is very time-consuming at the beginning, as is reading the rules. Although the game mechanisms themselves aren’t particularly difficult and are clearly presented in the overviews, it takes time to understand everything and play properly.
So overall – apart from the instructions – a great game for tactics fans and strategists who can handle a good dose of humor.
